Fios and the Net Nanny Equal a Perfect Combination

Hard to believe that my campaign with Verizon Fios has ended but my enjoyment of the service has not.  We are a family that truly loves our gadgets and Santa bought us plenty. It is no secret that when lots of people are connected to the same network that it can be slow and sluggish.  I love how Verizon recognizes this and allows you to select your connection speed based on the number of devices.  I will not bore you with the details of how it is able to transmit data at the speed of light but it is pretty cool.

The internet is a powerful tool and when not used properly it can be dangerous. It is for this reason that we have established internet ground rules which have become a part of our technology contract. As our children progress in school the use of technology increases. Most research happens on computers as the answers can be provided faster than searching in a book. Google is a household name and all it takes is entering the wrong word or phrase to expose your child to something unsuitable. It only needs to happen once before you take action.

The Verizon Internet Security Suite Powered by McAfee® includes a real-time external security alert system that assesses, informs, and warns you about your computer's security vulnerability as well as parental controls that provide child-specific settings for Web pages, chat filtering, objectionable word filtering, online time limits, and more.  With pre-teens in the house, I felt like I needed another layer of protection so I was thrilled when I got the chance to review the Net Nanny.  This award winning technology is the perfect addition to our Verizon Fios Service. Both offer internet filtering and time management but I love that with Net Nanny, I can monitor their social accounts. It seems like everyday a new social media platform is being released and the predators are getting smarter.  With Net Nanny, I can get instant alerts and reports on any activity that happens on these sites without the kids knowledge. The statistics of cyberbullying and child predators are alarming. Almost every day a child is a victim and many times they never tell an adult. Armed with these tools and our technology contract, I feel confident that we are prepared but I will never say never.

How are you protecting your family in this technology bubble?

Disclosure: This post was sponsored as part of a campaign with #FiosPhilly and I was given a trial of Net Nanny to review but all opinions belong to the Neighborhood.
